The Bookworm canal measures 0.55 - 0.7 inch (14 - 18 mm) in diameter and contains a total of nine chambers, which are formed by the coils of the 16 cross-ribs. Sixteen 0.3 inch (8 mm) hemispheric-shaped bumps are located between the ribs.
